In the middle of March, I decided to become Vegan.
There is a “1” in the title because this will be a series of posts talking about my journey. I will probably post once or twice a month.
I am so proud and happy about this new life decision.
I have watched many, many documentaries about Veganism, the food industry and the environment.
Movie List for a good start: & Most of these are on Netflix!
- Food Inc.
- Forks Over Knives
- Live and Let Live
Honestly, I believe people should watch these movies, even if they are not vegan, everyone should know what is inside their food, where it comes from and how it is affecting the world. There are also many other movies, those are the few that I watched already.
BUT, I need to be honest, lately, I have been more a vegetarian than a vegan.
I thought I can stop everything, all at once and be full-on vegan, but that was so not realistic. All meats I stopped beginning March, that was not hard. The problem came with dairy products; except for cows milk, I stopped drinking that a year ago.
My problem is with:
- Pizza (My favourite food)
- Baked goods like brownies, cakes …
- Ice cream (Honestly, I only tried one vegan option and I didn’t like it. There are many more, I can try.)
- Cheese (But I realized this week that my face broke out days after I consumed cheese products, so no more.)
I still consider myself vegan, because I believe I am vegan enough. I am trying my best to stop consuming all animal products and for most of the time, I am vegan. People can judge me and tell me I am not vegan, but I do not care because I know I am doing the best I can and I have done so much good already.
This is all to say that setbacks are okay, you should never punish yourself for that. My plan is to be full on vegan by the end of the year and I know I will be.
Do I have any vegan/vegetarian followers? Let me know of any tips and tricks in the comment section below.
